A look at the Faculty of Veterinary Science in Utrecht, where students are trained to be veterinary surgeons. The enormous increase in the number of pets in the Netherlands has stimulated the demand for veterinairy aid greatly. SHOTS: dogs in the waiting room; dog is examined by students and teachers in the surgery; dogs in the intensive care unit; operation of a dog; cow is led into a lecture-theatre; birth of a calf with onlooking students; students pay a working visit to a farmer keeping cows, a farmer keeping poultry and a slaughterhouse; horse is being scientifically examined by using a treadmill.
