The Dutch shoe industry is on the right track again after years of decline. About six thousand people work in the different factories, of which the majority is situated in Noord-Brabant. SHOTS: girls in a classroom learning to be shoe stitchers; cowhide is tanned in a tannery; the leather is then coloured and sprayed with lacquer; making of shoes in a factory, partially on a conveyor belt and partially by hand; center for shoe technique of TNO where the durability of shoes is tested and forms for new designs are developed; measurement of a child's feet in a shoe store.
