The wierde village Weiwerd in Groningen in the mouth of the Eems, which has to disappear because of the expansion of the industry near Delfzijl and the environmental regulations. REACTION by the owner of the grocery shop on the demolition of the village: "I think it is terrible that they will take down such a pretty village." SHOTS: aerial shots of Weiwerd with white church in the middle; Delfzijl with industry; several shots of Weiwerd, a.o. the town sign, house that is taken down by a bulldozer, a farmer watching, ext. and int. of grocery shop of Van Rijnsbergen, empty and half demolished buildings and houses, ext. school with schoolyard where some children are playing and two teachers are patrolling, ext. and int. of deteriorating Reformed church with dead pigeon on a pew.
