Construction of the locks complex with pound lock on the west side of Paramaribo. It is build as part of the Suriname ten-year plan. The lock personnel receives instructions on how to operate the lock doors. S.R. de Miranda, Minister of Public Works and Transport, and Severinus D. Emanuels, Prime Minister of Suriname, view a traffic bridge across the Saramacca Channel near the lock.
