Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented.
The opening of the railway exhibition "The train 1839-1939" in Amsterdam, on the occasion of the hundred years existence of the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (Dutch Railways). The exhibition was held on the grounds of the former Paleis voor de Volksvlijt. SHOTS: - pan across the exhibition terrain; - opening speech by the mayor of Amsterdam, W. de Vlugt; - Royal Commissioner of Noord-Holland, A. baron Roëll and Minister of Water Management, J.W. Albarda with his wife, listening to the speech; - several other gentlemen among the crowd; - several shots of moving model trains on scale models with a.o. a working railway crossing and a lift bridge; - De Vlugt get on a large model steam train ("De Arend" (The Eagle)) goes around the exhibition buildings. It is a replica of the first train that drove between Amsterdam and Haarlem.
