On September 14, 1975 the painting the 'Nachwacht' (Night Watch) by Rembrandt van Rijn was heavily damaged by a knife. The restoration was led by Luitsen Kuiper, chief restoration of teh Rijksmuseum. The restoration took a little more than eight months. SHOTS: damaged Night Watch; restoration in the Night Watch hall with the sewing of the loose strips of fabric onto the canvas and attaching the double linen; painting that has turned white is cleaned and color is added; restored painting.
