This year the Construction Day in Rotterdam focuses on the harbour. Mayor G.E. van Walsum of Rotterdam, wethouders (aldermen) and journalists visit the American refinery, which is still under construction, and the Shell storage terrain in the Europoort. Mr. K.P. van der Mandele, chairman of the Rotterdam Chamber of Commerce, turns the welding apparatuses on which are used to weld the floor sheet of the first oil tank. Also the expansion of the harbour, a.o. the demolition of German submarine bunkers near the Waal harbour.
