Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented.
The human remains of 234 of the 600 French soldiers that were killed in the May days of 1940 in the Netherlands are gathered at a new cemetery in Kapelle on Zuid-Beveland. The cemetery is now solemnly put into use in the presence of a.o. the ministers W. Drees (Prime Minister) and W.F. Schokking (War), the French minister for War Veterans L. Jacquinot, vice-admiral Rost van Tonningen on behalf of the queen, and many civilian and militairy authorities from home and abroad. SHOTS: - cemetery, monument and grave crosses; - French parachutists jumping out of airplanes; marching, after they've landed, in a column to the cemetery and form, together with the Dutch soldiers, a guard of honour; - arrival of the authorities; - Jacquinot unveils the monument and lays a wreath; - Rost van Tonningen pins a decoration on the flag of the paratroops; 0:45 from left to right Jacquinot, Rost van Tonningen, Drees, Schokking.
