Week number: 68-02
Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented.
The streets of Amsterdam are completely deserted at half past nine on New Year's Eve, a.o. the Rembrandt square and the Central Station. At the police station the policemen eat 'oliebollen' (type of traditional Dutch food made of dough) and salad and watch Rinand Fedinandusse on television. After midnight the telephone at the police station rings because of disturbances. A bonfire of Christmas trees is lit, fireworks is set off and protesters protest against the war in Vietnam at the consulate of the USA. In The Hague there are also bonfires.
