Week number 71-13
Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented.
The 39-year-old chaplain Adrianus Johannes Simonis is enthroned as a bishop at the Mathenesserlaan in Rotterdam. After Simonis enters, the papal letter of appointment is read. Cardinal Bernardus Johannes Alfrink asks Simonis a number of questions. During the reciting of the litany Simonis lies on the ground. Alfrink and the other members of the Dutch College lay hands on him, after which he kneels in front of the consecrator, who lays the evangelistary on his head and shoulders and says the consecration prayer. After he's received the ring, mitre and staff, he gets the kiss of peace from all the bishops that are present, a.o. the bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church.
