Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented.
In the evening inhabitants of Amsterdam wait for the results of the elections on Dam Square, where police have to intervene after riots by youth. Members of the KVP keep tehmselves informed of the results in the newspaper centre through the elections service, a.o. prof. C.P.M. Romme, prof. L.J.M. Beel and Marga Klompé. Members of teh PvdA gather in the Koopmansbeurs (Commodity exchange). a.o. dr. Willem Drees, H.J. Hofstra and former minister Sicco Mansholt. Minister Joseph Luns makes his way through the crowd and enters the hotel Krasnapolsky, where the VVD gathers. After it's been announced that the KVP has won, Romme is welcomed with a loud applause and comments on the elections in his speech. In another hall in Krasnapolsky prof. Jelle Zijlstra of the ARP gives his impression of the elections, as does E.A. Vermeer, chairman of the PvdA. The VVD gathers in the hall of the art society De Witte in Rotterdam, where prof. Pieter Oud is welcomed with a loud applause. He gives his opinion on the seats won at the elections, which makes them the third party in the House of Representatives.
