The minister of War, C. Staf, unveils a monument in remembrance of the liberators from the Second World War in Maastricht in the presence of a.o. the American ambassador Selden Chapin. SHOTS: - The monument stands on a square, still covered by cloth, in front of it four soldiers with folded flags in their hands are waiting near empty flagpoles; - Staf and Chapin (with glasses) inspect the guard of honour; - Staf unveils the monument; - four militairy trumpeters sound the "Last Post"; - the mayor of Maastricht, baron W. Michiels van Kessenich, lays a wreath; - ext. monument; - the designer of the monument, Charles Eyck, watches with great interest.
