Week number: 79-20
Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented.
Just like other old cities, Deventer has problems with vacancies and decline in the town centre. In the Bergkwartier historical buildings are already restored in style but in a district like the Noordenbergkwartier there's still a lot to be done. Most of the inhabitants have left and a lot of old houses are bricked up. A large part has been bought up by the city and there are talks with the neighbourhood committies about the nature and size of the new development. SHOTS: view of Deventer from the IJssel; several restored buildings in the Bergkwartier; buildings in the Noordenbergkwartier that are and aren't restored; tracking shot of bricked up houses; demolition in the town.
