Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented.
1) BATAVIA: because of the Japanese occupation a lot of cars have turned to rust. SHOTS: (from 00:00) - wrecked cars in the streets; car dump with wrecked cars, partly overgrown; - Dutch soldiers (indistinctly uniformed) work on the cars. 2) BANKA: on the island of Banka the population receive medical aid from the Red Cross. SHOTS: (from 00:58) - helpers load boxes of cans (with whole milk?) on a lorry; - nurses from the Red Cross hand out quinine pills in the open air and give eye drops to the native population; - cans of biscuits are emptied and the biscuits are handed out to children. 3) BANKA: because of the winning of tin, a complete industry has arisen that makes decorative objects out of tin. SHOTS: (from 01:45) Chinese boys manually do tin work in a workshop.
