The first 25 families have moved from Amsterdam to the new city of Almere. The local school and supermarket are already equipped for a larger number of households. It is expected that in the year 2000 250.000 people will live in Almere. SHOTS: aerial shots Almere-Haven; bus with new inhabitants drives towards Almere; int. and ext. newly-built house and flat in Amsterdam; building activity and heaps of sand around the finished houses; community house acts as church; int. classroom with four students; int. supermarket; salesman sells Christmas trees in between building sites. REACTION of woman from Amsterdam who tours her new home and tells about her old flat in Amsterdam and of a young man who says he considers the house in Almere as a new beginning.
