In Delft, in the former building of the St. Jansbrug near the water in the Old Delft, a refectory has been put up. The minister of Education, Arts and Science, dr. F.J.Th. Rutten, officially opens the refectory in the presence of a.o. rector of the Polytechnic College, dr. O. Bottema. SHOTS: - The Old Delft with water, walls and the bridge; ext. refectory building and entrance; students enter the building; - in a room full of people Rutten gives a speech and tastes the menu of the day; - int. kitchen: cooks and other staff prepare the hot meal; - working students place pans of hot food on a special kitchen trolley and take them from the kitchen to the dining hall; there the food is dished out to the present students; 00:16 Bottema (middle).
