The Royal North- and South-Holland Rescue Company (KNZHRM) exists 150 years. At more than thirty places along the coast are lifeboat stations. One of the latest additions is the very fast lifeboat 'Komer', equipped with all the modern navigation devices. SHOTS: b/w: swirling sea; close ups engraving on shipwrecks; color: self-righting boat, which after capsizing comes back up; boat with jumping net; ext. and int. 'Komer'; 'Komer' leaves the harbout with high speed. ARCHIVE FOOTAGE (b/w): rowing lifeboat in the surf; tombstone of a perished rescuer; rescue steamboat 'Dorus Rijkers' near wreck.
